Over 135 Years of Combined Experience In Personal Injury and Wrongful Death

Married pastors caught in motorcycle wreck; 1 killed

Of course, when someone is killed in a car accident, the people most affected by this tragedy will probably be the victim’s family. Their spouse and children are deprived of the deceased’s companionship, as well as their emotional and financial support, and they are the people who were counting on these things the most.

But most of us are more than spouses and parents. We also have jobs, friends, and other people in our lives who would be affected by our death. While these more distant connections may not entitle people to wrongful death litigation, it can still be terribly painful when someone important to you is killed due to negligence.

In a particularly sad example, two Pennsylvania pastors, who were married to each other, were caught in a serious motorcycle accident recently. One of the pastors was killed and the other was left in critical condition by the crash, which appears to have been caused by a wrong-way motorist.

According to WFMZ-TV, the victims were travelling southbound on a motorcycle when they encountered an SUV headed north on the southbound side. It is not clear if the SUV suddenly swerved into the southbound lanes, or if the driver had been on the wrong side of the street for a significant period of time.

Either way, the SUV crashed into the motorcycle. The impact killed the wife, and severely injured the husband. He was in critical condition as of June 9. Both were pastors at a Pennsylvania church. The church’s executive pastor called the incident “almost unthinkable” for the congregation, who “dearly loved” the couple.
